Pilning, Severn Beach and Easter Compton

The children in Year 3/4 have been focusing on the arts recently.  They are currently taking part in a drama workshop about the history of Severn Beach, which will culminate in a performance for parents at the end of term.  Also, after 30 weeks of learning how to play different brass instruments with a teacher from the South Gloucestershire Music Service, they performed a short concert to proud mums and dads and the rest of the school.

Once again this year, we took part in the Brake Record Breaking Walking Bus as the whole school walked around the village to raise awareness of road safety.   Schools all over the country did the same thing at the same time.  On the subject of keeping safe, some of the older children did cycling proficiency training.

Mr George from Severn Beach Gardening Club, came and planted sunflower seeds with the Year 1/2 class and the children are all waiting to see whose sunflower grows the tallest!

The Reception class enjoyed a trip to Weston-super-Mare at the end of Term 5.  Whilst the weather could have been better, they all had a good time, especially travelling there and back by train.  They are now learning to swim this term.

The children who will be starting at our school in September were invited in several times to get them used to ‘big school’ before the summer.  One of the events was the ever-popular Teddy Bears’ Picnic.
